Menter a Busnes' HR Team named among top HR teams shortlisted award

The company’s HR team has been nominated in the Best Use of Welsh Language in HR (Team) category for their role in the effective integration of Menter a Busnes’ Welsh language values in their people management and development practices.

It is one of three finalists in the category.

The Awards have been created by the Wales HR Network, a leading networking platform for HR professionals, partnered by Cardiff-based commercial law firm Darwin Gray, and Acorn, Wales’ specialist recruitment and training agency.

The awards, created to recognise and celebrate the achievements of HR professionals, will take place in a black-tie ceremony at The SSE SWALEC, Cardiff, on 23 March.

Menter a Busnes is an independent company helping individuals and companies throughout Wales to start and grow their businesses.

They provide entrepreneurship awareness, business start-up and business growth support to individuals, groups and SMEs, aiming to make a positive contribution to the Welsh economy.

The event, which will be hosted by BBC television presenter Sian Lloyd, is the first of its kind in Wales and has been welcomed by leading businesses throughout the country.

Corinna Lloyd-Jones, HR Director, at Menter a Busnes, along with her colleagues Elaine Davies and Gwenno Humphreys make up the organisation’s HR team.

"Menter a Busnes is a completely bilingual company and we pride ourselves on setting the benchmark for business support through the medium of Welsh."

Corinna said: “Menter a Busnes is a completely bilingual company and we pride ourselves on setting the benchmark for business support through the medium of Welsh.

“It’s essential therefore that as the company’s HR team, we aim to facilitate a work environment where staff are aware that they can use the Welsh language at work with confidence.”

Menter a Busnes also has offices in St Asaph, Bangor, and Aberystwyth.

The awards ceremony will include performances from Only Boys Aloud and Welsh National Opera as well as an address from guest speaker Lord Price, the Minister of State at the Department for International Trade and former Managing Director of Waitrose.

Fflur Jones, head of Darwin Gray’s employment law and HR department, said: “Despite being at the core of every successful company, HR is very often an under-acknowledged profession.  That’s why I think this event has generated such a positive response; it seems to have really struck a chord.”

Sarah Jones, Acorn’s head of marketing, added: “We’ve been overwhelmed by the response and support to the first Wales HR Awards.  The number of entries received exceeded all our expectations, and the calibre of nominees is outstanding.”

Tickets cost £60 and are available to buy at: http://www.waleshrnetwork.cymru/awards.html
